WA border could open to much of the country, chief health officer Dr Andrew Robertson tells Covid-19 hearing

WA border could open to much of the country, Chief Health Officer Dr Andrew Robertson tells COVID-19 hearing.

Western Australia could open its border to most states around the country as they already meet health requirements and have their own “generally” satisfactory border controls in place, WA’s Chief Health Officer says.

“If we are confident of the border arrangements, confident of the epidemiology, we’re mindful of our susceptibility, then I think we can continue to look at whether there are other options for the borders.

Experts have cast doubt over how realistic the 28 days of no community spread nationally would be to attain, but Dr Robertson said he believed that could be possible within a couple of months.

If you hold a valid Student visa at the time you apply for the Subclass 485 visa, you will already be covered under an Overseas Student Health Cover policy as a condition of your Student visa requirement. Your existing OSHC is considered acceptable health insurance at the time you lodge your 485 visa application and you should submit evidence of this with your visa application.
